5 TIPS TO REMEMBER WHEN APPLYING BLUSH

Blush, oh I love blush. It may seem trivial enough, but i am here to tell you that is absolutely important, it is my favorite way to add a pop of color to my face.
However your face is not a circus show and applying blush wrongly can make it seem like you are all about a clown life. So I have pulled together a few tips to guide you while applying blush.

1.       Do not go overboard:  it is very common for a lot of people to apply too much blush, sometimes it’s not deliberate. Applying brush can be tricky, it doesn’t take much for your blush to turn from a pop of color to a clown face, so apply in light strokes and be conservative, you don’t want to pack it on(a little goes a long way)

2.       Too high or too low: apple of your cheeks! That’s where your blush should be, not under your eyes and not swooping down your jaw. Sometimes for a more flushed or dramatic look, you want to drag it up to your hairline, but remember, always go lightly in this area. You can smile wildly or pout when applying blush to help you determine where exactly is the apple of your cheeks.

3.       The right shade:  let’s face it, not all blushes were made with black women in mind. So just cause you love hot pink doesn’t mean you can get away with using hot pink, so please next time you picking out a blush, make sure to pick the shade that suits your skin tone best. (browns and earthly shades for very dark skin, berry and deep rose for medium light skin and corals and peaches for very light skinned black woman)

4.       Brushes: if you are using a brush that is too small then you are in trouble, if you also use a brush that is too big, you are still in trouble. Wedges and shapely sponges are not for applying blush, if you are going to use a beauty blender then make sure you know how to utilize it well. Better still invest in a good blush brush, it will go a long way.

5.       Blending: this is a no brainer. I mean every makeup artist in the world screams blend blend blend blend. And blend again. You don’t want a circle of color on your cheek (remember Mr Clown?) you want to make sure your blush blends seamlessly into your makeup so blend that blush until your hands aches. Then you are ready to go.
I hope with this tips we can all avoid falling a victim of blush blunders.

What are your favorite blushes this season?
